A Survival Guide
Dear Fellow Published Authors:
In my former life I was a sales promotions manager for a large international firm.
After changing careers, I applied my business background to promoting my children's book.
The first printing was followed by a second, then a third. Children's authors began calling me
for marketing advice and I took some on as clients. This book is response to their requests to
"write it down."
Note: The first printing of the book is sold out. A new updated and revised edition is now available. In this case, I not only slipped out without saying a word, I said nothing at the next store either. Finally, at the third store, I got up the nerve to actually open my mouth. I was shocked. The owner was happy to meet me! He smiled, shook my hand enthusiastically, and thanked me for coming: "What a pleasant break in my day. I've been dealing with cranky customers, leaky roofs, and paperwork." Booksellers really do want to meet you. So venture out from behind your trusty computer and set out on your first bookseller safari. I've been to more than 100 book stores from Seattle to San Diego, from New York to Los Angeles. I'll be your "bwana" and guide you every step of the way. Writing for children is a right-brain activity. Most authors find the left-brain business of book promotion intimidating and confusing.
